Disease outbreaks in livestock have a devasting impact on production and profitability on a farm. Thus, biosecurity is a vital element in farm management to reduce the risk of transmission of infectious diseases.
Good farm management which includes access control, regular cleaning and disinfecting, isolation, pest control and disposal of dead animals are some key factors in good biosecurity measures.
Unfortunately, however, even with the best biosecurity measures in place disease outbreaks can still occur. Regular sanitation of the bedding and the house surrounds can ensure that pathogen contamination can be controlled even during a production cycle. Eliminator® is a powder sanitation agent which can be applied before or during a production cycle and is an effective strategy to reduce pathogen loads, especially in wet areas.
The unique combination of ingredients allows Eliminator® to function as a germicide as well as assist in binding moisture and ammonia in wet manure. This reduces damage to the respiratory systems and/or feet due to high ammonia and ammonium hydroxide present in wet areas.
Laboratory analyses has proven Eliminator® to be effective against E.coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseodmonasaeuginosa, Salmonella spp. Aspergillus fumigatus as well as tested efficacy against the Avian Influenza virus.

Eliminator® can be used as a manure treatment, whereby the powder is applied at a rate of 250 – 300 g/m2 directly into the bedding. Additionally, Eliminator® is also beneficial as a dry foot bath, which allows for visual confirmation of use. The powder can be spread in a band around houses and outbuildings to assist with site disinfection, as well as being used at site entrances to sanitise vehicles.
The multiuse nature of Eliminator ® makes it a valuable tool in order to prevent and/or reduce the severity of disease outbreaks caused by a variety of pathogens.
