TaurOs
For use in animal feed to aid in osmoregulation, tissue protection, bile salt synthesis, modulation of channel Ca2+ activity, neurotransmitter, and energy storage. TaurOs can improve thermotolerance against heat-stressed induced symptoms.
| . | Taurine is a β- amino acid with a sulfonate functional group. This functional group makes taurine more acidic (pKa < 1.5) which results in it being completely zwitterionic over the physiological pH range. Its ability to regulate osmotic pressure originates from its inertness at physiological pH, lack of metabolic function in most cells, and/or poor diffusion through the cellular membrane. Taurine participates in the regulation of major biochemical pathways in the body and modulates basic processes, including enzyme activity, receptor regulation, osmotic pressure, cation homeostasis, cell development, and cell signaling. |
