Betaine anhydrous, for use in poultry and pig diets to assist in alleviating heat stress symptoms and as partial replacement of choline and methionine in the diets.

Betaine functions as a methyl donor in the liver, improving the synthesis of compounds like carnitine and creatine. Thus, betaine plays a role in protein and lipid metabolism in the liver. In addition, betaine is an extremely effective osmoprotectant for cells. During heat stress conditions, betaine helps cells throughout the body to minimize water loss, to maintain cellular volume, and to preserve cellular metabolism.
