Pathogen reduction in waterlines and intestinal tract
A solution of sodium chlorate and hydrogen peroxide for use as pathogen control in drinking systems for livestock and fruit wash and in packing operations as sanitizer and shelf life extender. Sodium chlorate is highly effective against Enterobacteriacea which include Salmonella and e-coli. The chlorate ion is metabolized in these bacteria to produce an intracellular ion (chlorite) that is toxic and kills the bacteria. It is specific to pathogenic Enterobacteriacea because this group of bacteria have a respiratory nitrate reductase activity.
Application: 4 litre per 1,000 litre water for 3-5 days continuously.
